Semantic Data Loss Protection for Enterprise AI

Wald.ai focuses on solving a fundamental security challenge in enterprise AI adoption: understanding and protecting sensitive data based on its meaning, context, and intent - not simply patterns or predefined rules.

Founded in Palo Alto in 2024, Wald builds a semantic AI security layer that protects data wherever employees and AI agents interact with AI systems.

Wald’s technology uses specialized AI models to understand the context and meaning of prompts, documents, code, and other data in real time. This enables organizations to identify sensitive information including IP, trade secrets, confidential business information, PII, and other non pattern-based data that traditional DLP systems often miss.

Rather than relying primarily on brittle rules, regex, or predefined identifiers, Wald applies semantic understanding to determine what information is sensitive and how it is being used.

Wald delivers this protection across two critical AI communication surfaces: Endpoint DLP and MCP DLP. At the endpoint, Wald protects interactions with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, enterprise AI applications, and other AI tools, providing real-time inspection and policy enforcement without requiring organizations to restrict legitimate AI use.

For agentic AI, Wald operates as a semantic MCP security gateway, inspecting data flowing between AI agents, MCP servers, and connected tools. It evaluates the sensitivity and meaning of data, the intent of the transaction, and the source and destination of information to determine whether it should be allowed, warned on, blocked, or transformed.

Wald is designed to complement existing enterprise security and DLP platforms by adding semantic intelligence to AI data flows, reducing false positives and false negatives and enabling organizations to adopt AI and agentic workflows without compromising control over sensitive information.

Wald.ai is backed by $4 million in seed funding from Inventus Capital, Entrada Ventures, and angels including executives from Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, and BigID.
