AI Driven Risk-Based Vulnerability Management

Empirical Security builds custom security models for teams buried in exposure data that is too noisy, and scored too generically, to show what will actually be exploited in their environment.

The company's data driven models combine external exploitation telemetry with each customer's specific environmental context. The models prioritize, remediate, and summarize security findings, so teams work on the risks that matter instead of the longest list.

Empirical monitors more than 17,000 vulnerabilities (CVEs) known to have been exploited in the wild and gives each one a clear probability of being exploited next.

Empirical was founded in 2024 by CEO Ed Bellis and CTO Michael Roytman, who previously built Kenna Security together, and Chief Data Scientist Jay Jacobs, co-creator of the Exploit Prediction Scoring System (EPSS).

Based in Chicago, the company has raised $37 million: a $12 million seed round led by Costanoa Ventures, and a $25 million Series A in July 2026 led by Brightmind Partners.
